Village Nuts

Dhoros is renown for her almond blossom in early spring, the whole village is a mass of pinky white candyfloss blooms. The resulting nuts are an important part of the villagers' yearly produce. What I couldn't understand when I first arrived was their seemingly very strange way of storing them; As I walked around the village on one of my late summer visits I found people everywhere making necklaces of almonds & walnuts! Young and old alike were either cracking the nuts in the traditional way of stone on stone, or threading them onto strings. Everywhere you looked beads of walnuts and almonds were hanging in beadedrows from windows or hooks.  The next thing I saw was the strings of nut beads being attached to forked twigs!
